Co-led by ONWA and the Ontario Aboriginal HIV/Aids Strategy, the recently struck “Aboriginal women involved in the sex trade “committee seeks to facilitate an Aboriginal driven and coordinated response to the Aboriginal sex trade in Thunder Bay and the surrounding area. Key activities of the committee include facilitating partnership and relationship building, identifying potential sources of funding, identify policies, procedures or strategies that are detrimental to the health and safety of Aboriginal women in the sex trade, advocate for safety and supports, act as an information gathering and sharing forum; and raise public awareness surrounding the Aboriginal sex trade.
