In Canada, someone has a stroke every 9 minutes. Time is Brain. The faster you act, the more of the person you save.  Last year in Thunder Bay, approximately 413 people were admitted to our Regional Stroke Unit. Numbers are on the rise with the aging population and social determinants of health of our region. Leadership Thunder Bay Community Action Project group will be tasked to design and execute a public awareness campaign to promote the acronym FAST (Face, Arms, Speech and Time). Raising awareness of the three signs – along with the urgent need to call 9-1-1. Which will in turn reduce the devastating impact of stroke in our community and increase the knowledge in the community that accessing EMS for stroke onset is the safest and most efficient way to get to the hospital.
